There are 2 basic types of cervical orthoses:
The collar design and the post design. The collar cervical orthosis slightly to moderately restricts flexion and extension of the cervical spine, gets more rigid cervical orthoses that incorporate posts restricts movement of and stabilizes the cervical spine. Popular cervical orthoses are the soft collar, Philadelphia collar, Miami J collar and the SOMI (Sternal-occipital mandibular immobilizer). |
