Forequarter and Shoulder
Disarticulation Prostheses |
Every prosthesis Leimkuehler, Inc. fabricates
is specifically designed for each patient through the use of casts, measurements
and working models. |
Myoelectric prosthetics now offer forequarter
and shoulder disarticulation amputees a realistic alternative to the less
functional and more cumbersome conventional designs. By using multiple signals
from sources remote from the primary muscles involved, the myoelectric potential
can be generated to operate the motions of the elbow or terminal device. |
If a higher amputee exhibits no myoelectric ability,
the prostheses can be designed with switches either in the socket or on the
harnessing mechanism to control the elbow and terminal devices. |
